Topsail Island is known for being a peaceful and family-friendly beach destination offering natural beauty, outdoor activities, and unique historical sites. The island features pristine, uncrowded beaches with gentle waters, ideal for swimming and fishing. It is famous for shark teeth hunting, a popular pastime for visitors.
In addition to its beautiful beaches, Topsail Island is known for several notable attractions. The Karen Beasley Sea Turtle Rescue and Rehabilitation Center in Surf City highlights the island’s commitment to wildlife conservation. The Missiles & More Museum provides insight into the island’s fascinating military history as a testing site during World War II. Visitors enjoy fishing and strolling along piers such as Surf City Pier and Seaview Pier.
Topsail Island also celebrates its cultural heritage with events like the Ocean City Jazz Festival, honoring the island’s historic African American beachfront community known as Ocean City, the only place African Americans could purchase coastal property during segregation.
