Surf City Line
With a strong desire to bring something new and exciting to the island, Surf City Line was created by Jeff Peterson and his son, Chris Peterson in May 2021. With a background in real estate investment and property beautification, they wanted a place that would be family and dog friendly, which would appeal to everyone. What better way than tacos with an island vibe? And so, Surf City Line was born.
Located on the line between Surf City and North Topsail, “The Line” boasts the biggest deck on the island! The restaurant and bar features live music, accommodates parties of all sizes and prides themselves on making each guest’s visit an experience to remember. Surf City Line believes in developing and maintaining strong ties to the community by partnering with various organizations such as “The Reel Housewives of Topsail Island” and “Paddle for The Troops”.

From Binghamton NY, Chef Jay started cooking at a young age preparing meals for his family. He soon found that he had a true passion for the culinary arts. After serving his country in the U.S. Army as an infantryman, Jay began his quest to hone his craft with a fearless tenacity. His only desire was to make people happy with his food. He has worked in various restaurant settings ranging from short order to fine dining learning a wide range of skills with each experience. After years of paying his dues, he became Executive Chef of a fine dining steakhouse in Memphis, TN. It was there that he finally put that fearless, outside-the-box mentality to use. He hosted numerous beer and wine dinners as well as many private functions. He attributes his success to his beautiful family. His wife, Melinda and two sons Wes and Daniel, have always been his most honest critics and fiercest supporters. He also attributes much of his culinary experience to Chef Michael Patrick, of Memphis and Chef Andrew Ostacoli, of Hampstead. Jay loves to meet new faces and warmly greet returning ones. Whether it’s your first time, or your tenth, Chef Jay will always stop to talk to you and make sure your experience is a great one.
